Message from your President,

Fall greetings to everyone! It seems Summer was here and gone before we knew it; there is always so much to do that time flies! We are coming off the heels of our National Shire Show! Once again, the Iowa State Fair welcomed the Shires to their well-run draft horse competitions! I  would like to personally thank those that took the time to get their horsesready and brought them to the show. It truly is months of commitment to prepare your horses and the  National Show sets the standard for our Shire horse. A huge thank you to our National Show Coordinator, Lisa Banga Graham. Lisa spends hours of volunteered time, organizing the dinner, getting the trophies and making everyone feel welcome and we sure appreciate it. Also, the show is made special by the sponsors who donate towards classes, awards, and the dinner. Everyone is welcomed to the exhibitor dinner and great fellowship occurs while celebrating the Shire horse. Again, this year, Dr. Jeff Gower of Soaring Eagle Farms sponsored the meal. Thank you Dr. Gower for your continued support! Each exhibitor also received a gift of a tabletop cooler, these were sponsored by Ohio Valley Shires, the Nate Pickle family! All these extra touches make the National Show very special, and I again say thank you to all involved!

I want to remind everyone of the upcoming election where 2 positions will be open. I encourage you to read the biographies and take time to call the candidates—make sure you get to know them and their intent to represent the Shire horse.
